Coming Events

There are a number of events happening in the school which students are encouraged to participate in. We encourage parents to attend any school or TSSSA events. We ask that you contact Mrs Kofoed, Sports Coordinator if you are able to assist with managing or transporting students.

Weekly Events

Kapa Haka Practice:  Thursday from 10.15 am to 11.30 am in Te Amorangi. See Miss O’Carroll for more details.

Choir Practice will be on Thursday afternoon for Term 3. Students must have signed up before going. See Mrs Trueman for more details.

SWITCH: The school Christian group meets on Tuesday lunchtime, generally in the Shakespeare Suite. Come along for a fun informative programme. We welcome new faces. Check us out and see what it is all about.

Sports Practices occur regularly at lunchtimes and after school in preparation for weekly competition.

The following staff are in charge of specific sports:
Rugby: Mr Jeff Walker
Netball: Miss Denise Kay
Soccer: Mr Wayne Smith
Basketball: Mr Phil Keenan
The Sports Co-ordinator Mrs Jackie Kofoed is available for other sports. Contact on option 4 or extension 727 at school. The Sports Co-ordinators office is opposite the Student Office in the Administration building.

Students have the opportunity to take part in 42 sports run by the Taranaki Secondary School Sports Association (TSSPA). These are listed by the sports office and also in the Sports Handbook given to year 9 students.

Supporting the School

Parents / caregivers are asked to support the students and staff of the school by:

  • Attending events with your students; including prizegivings and social occasions.
  • Assisting senior students with their study practices in time for senior examinations.
  • Making sure that your student uses their homework diary and has the correct stationery.
  • Giving positive and supportive encouragement to your student and their friends.
  • Encouraging your student to support others in competitions.
  • Making sure students attend sports or cultural fixtures if they are in a team, etc.
  • Informing the school of any absences
  • Assisting with transport, uniforms, fundraising, coaching, managing teams, etc.
  • Coming to Parent Teacher Association meetings to find out more about the teachers and curriculum that is taught at Stratford High School.
