On September 2nd we ran a waste free period program for all the girls at school. This was funded by the Stratford District Council. The program highlighted the issue to young women and their families of the high cost of personal sanitary items over many years. Points were made also regarding how disposable items contribute to so much waste in the environment.
Our presenter Rochelle delivered a very informative talk and demonstration of the use and care of reusable sanitary items the girls can use. At the end of the presentation the girls were gifted either a reusable cup or two washable pads. We have encouraged the girls to talk with parents and caregivers about the presentation. The school is grateful for being offered this wonderful initiative and hope it starts some good conversations about the options available.
