| Junior House Awards | ||||||||||||||||||||
2007 saw the introduction of a new Junior House Awards Programme which took the shape of badges. The badges were awarded across 4 disciplines. These were Academic (A), Culture (C), Sport (S) and Participation (P). Katey Craig (December 2008) was the first student to recieve a complete set of bars. In order to be eligible for an award Y9 and 10 students had to be nominated by their form class teacher or House leaders. The graduation report assisted with the academic award as well as STAR, ESA, PAT Listening and Paul Nation Vocabulary work. Culture centred around Kapa Haka, stage challenge, speeches, music, drama, art and languages. Sport featured commitment and attitude as well as ability from either one particular sport or a wide range. The participation award became the most highly sought after as it represented the all rounder who participated enthusiastically, fairly, intelligently and skilfully in a wide variety of events. If a student is previously awarded a badge then they were presented with a bar which is attached to the existing badge. December 2010 Winners: Of note this year is Anjela Frost and Alexandra Merson who have both received a complete set of bars.
